We are so grateful for the 30 trees, which the volunteers planted, under the careful instruction of the staff from Food and Trees for Africa. These trees will provide much needed shade and fruit for our children over the coming years.
We are also extremely grateful for the stationery that was also collected and presented to us.
Groups of volunteers kept themselves busy throughout the day painting the kitchen block, facilitating fun activities with the children, planting a herb garden and planting trees.
A very big thank you to Mr Paul Schmidt, Ms Ilona de Klerk and the Barclays CIB and FC Policy, Governance and Control team. Also thank you to Mr Simon Chan for co-ordinating the day.
Food and Trees for Africa is a social and environmental enterprise. They have planted over 4.2 million trees and 1000’s of permaculture food gardens for poor communities. Read more about their good work here.
